SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing all aspects of a restaurant to ensure superior guest satisfaction, positive employee
relations, profitability, and sales growth by maintaining and promoting the highest standards for quality food
and service.
 
Location: 175 East City Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PURCHASING & INVENTORY (15%): Counts, orders, and verifies deliver of all items within the restaurant including but not limited to food, produce, beverages, liquor, beer & wine, cleaning supplies and paper products to ensure proper par levels in relation to projected sales.
 
FOOD PREPARATION (15%): Directs the preparation of raw materials for daily food production. Ensures proper storage, cooking, and holding standards are maintained by performing various line checks prior to and during shift. Oversees the production, preparation, and delivery of meals throughout shift. Performs quality checks on final meals and provides training feedback to production crew when
standards are not met.
 
GUEST RELATIONS (15%): Maintains and promotes excellent relations of entire staff by interacting
and encouraging positive interaction with guests throughout shift to ensure that all facets of their dining experience met or exceeded their expectations. Resolves any billing, food quality, or service related issues in a manner consistent with Company Policy. Responds to guest inquires, praises, and/or complaints in person or by mail or phone when appropriate.
 
HUMAN RESOURCES (15%):
 
  • Recruiting, Orientation & Training: Assists with interviewing and hiring hourly individuals for the restaurant. Conducts orientations and testing to ensure ongoing development of staff through in-store training programs.
  • Scheduling: Manages staffing throughout shift. Provides direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues. Ensures that all individuals adhere to the Company's Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Benefits & Payroll: Balances payroll data on a daily and weekly basis to ensure accuracy. Submits appropriate paperwork and labor reports bi-weekly to corporate office for processing and payment. Assists with administering various benefits programs among restaurant personnel including but not limited to vacations and discounts.
  • Employee Relations: Provides employees with positive and developmental feedback and takes appropriate action when necessary. Resolves conflicts and work related issues effectively, efficiently and fairly. Provides input on performance reviews with all hourly individuals. Provides counseling, direction and development for individuals who have performance opportunities.
 
 
P & L MANAGEMENT (15%): Balances accounting data on a daily and weekly basis to ensure accuracy. Submits appropriate paperwork to the corporate office for processing and payment. Identifies operational opportunities; assists with creating and implementing plans to address opportunities (i.e.
R&M, Cost Controls). Prepares reports at end of shift which may include: Daily Labor Control, Daily Food Control and Daily Sales to be used in review with the General Manager and Area Director for
 urpose of measuring management practices and business execution.
 
SAFETY & SECURITY (10%): Ensures a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Completes accident reports promptly in the event a guest or employee is injured. Maintains proper legal postings including licenses, permits, and various labor related posters.
 
  • Check-Out Cash Control: Performs "checkout" of wait staff and bartenders ensuring that all tickets are accounted for, all comps have been signed, the proper amount of cash and all credit card vouchers are obtained, and that the appropriate amount of tips have been declared.
  • Cash Control: Ensures that proper cash handling procedures are followed. Balances cash on hand with End of Day report, if closing manager. Prepares bank deposits and performs cash drops consistent with Company Policy. Disburses petty cash as required.
  • Asset Security: Ensures that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets, including security of registers and safe, walk-in, freezer, office and food and beverage storage areas. Pulls items from these areas as required throughout shift.
  • Cleanliness: Audits restaurant during travel path and notes discrepancies from cleanliness standards and initiatives. Develops work plans for staff to make the necessary changes to meet or exceed standards. Trains and/or retrains staff when appropriate.
 
ACCOUNTABILITIES (15%):
 
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.
  • Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity and efficiency/effectiveness.
  • At all times provides a favorable image of the restaurant and Company to promote and enhance public recognition and community relations.
  • Maintains standards to optimize profits and increase sales
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) in hospitality or related field preferred.
 
EXPERIENCE: Six months to one year of previous manager experience.
